You Tell Me

Okay friends, I need your input. I'm about to go to line editing with OF POSEIDON in a couple of weeks, but I don't want to be so erratic with my blog posts. My goal is to have a batch of ready-made posts for your reading pleasure during this time, some cut and paste goodies I can write in advance. When I sat down to make a list of topics, I felt a little silly, with three things on the list and all. So I thought I'd ask you. What questions do you have about the publishing process? Is there anything that concerns you right now? What do you need help with the most?

You tell me. Ask and you shall receive...

P.S. Tomorrow, stop by http://authoraghoward.blogspot.com/ for my author interview. Anita Howard is my gracious hostess, and she is one of US--a slush pile find with an awesome novel on submission to editors AS WE SPEAK! :) And while you're over there, check out her book trailer!

  1. i would love to know what happens AFTER the book gets taken on by an editor at a pub house.

people always talk about how much work happens then, but no one ever gives an awesome insight into that next step in the process! =]

  2. Advice on the whole process. Like what you've learned, what your going through, what you can tell.

  3. Hey Lindsay! Anything specific? Or just step by step?

Mandie, you too! Any specific questions, or start from the beginning?

  4. It doesn't matter what you post. As long as your infectious wit is sprinkled throughout, it will be a hit. ;)

BTW, I'm really liking the water theme here. VERY fitting!

  6. I'd love to hear what you did differently the second time around. Meaning, what did you learn while writing/querying that first novel, that you put to good use while writing/querying the second one?

  7. Do you have a look at the marketing process yet? Any book signing tours in the future?

  10. Anita, stop making me blush all the dang time! :)

Angela, I think that would make a great blog post, to compare experiences. Thanks for the idea, and I'll work on it!

Kaylie, I HOPE there'll be book tours, but I think it's too early in the game for that right now. When I know, you'll know, I promise. I hope they bring me close to you so we can party hard! (I can't even say that with a straight face!) :)

Donna! You found me! Thanks so much for the support. I've missed you. :(

Lisa, thanks for stopping by and for the congrats! I appreciate the support!

  11. For your pre-post preparation, I say you write the headline of the day as if you're Katie Couric (Does anybody watch her?!). What was the big news story on Monday, May 9, 2011? That could be fun!

  12. Anna, we're gonna party hardy!
    Bethany, I like that idea!

  14. Hi, Anna! I'm stopping over from Anita's blog award post. I'm glad I found your blog, too, so I can keep track of OF POSEIDON's release date. :)

  16. BethanyC-Katie Couric? Who's that??? Just kidding! :) I agree with Kaylie, great idea! But what is I don't have big news, just...well, news?

  17. Hey, if you're writing the news--you can make it as big as you want. Anita's having her gallbladder removed tomorrow--I'm pretty sure there's a headline there. Can you believe how big it was?! And the eyes! My GAWD, it had eyes and a tiny arm!

  18. Yes, I'm curious to know why it takes so dang long to get a book out, even after the publisher accepts it! (I'm an impatient sort from the magazine world...we churn those puppies out.) Congrats on the "imminent" publication; excited for your success! Oh, and I found you through the most marvelous Anita as well.
